@OP

Because kawaii is part of the Japanese culture, and not part of American culture.

hehe, always loved gwen chan, so much in fact that the design in progress for my guilds website was inspired by her, working on chibifying a few of my members characters for the logo etc

we are The Chan Clan [Chan] and welcome gwen chan!

I'm a big anime/manga fan, and in fact, many Americans love Japan (technology, Nintendo, anime, manga...), but it just doesn't fit the american theme.

When I think of America I think of Teddy Roosevelt and black and white films, and guns, and the army with its sergeant stereotypes, and "The Entertainer" by Scott Joplin.

Now all we need are some avatars of Gwen-chan's partner, Dr. Boar

If you go to Japan, you'll realise Japanese has myths and legends about wild hogs rather pigs. I was in Japan at the end of last year and bought a hog souvenir for my GF. I guess they are doing it along with the spirit of Year of the Pig... hogs are pigs of course.

The avatar is nicely done

Hogs in Asia look like fat ugly dog/wolf-type things.

Once I saw a documentary on "Hogzilla" and it showed a Japanese boar. MOST HIDEOUS THING I EVER SAW! It was like a giant bulldog with a pig snout and some gay smile. [/randomness]

It's definitely part of Japanese culture. Imagining a cute chibi girl guiding us here in America just doesn't feel right. Even if I do worship Japan and the arts of anime and manga.

It's been a long time I use my favorite Gwen's quote in board signs :
"Mommy always said not to play with fire. But Mommy's dead."

I quite like this one too :
"My favorite 3 things: skipping, playing the flute, and burning towns down."

I would so totally kill for a mini Gwen they should totally make that the 2nd year birthday present. i don't care if everyone in the game gets one and they are totally common. I WANT ONE!!! I think I will go start a Gwen cult or something. one day Gwen will return from the fiery ball in the sky and take you all its prophecy i tell you.

We need a Gwen minipet. But not just ANY Gwen minipet, a GWEN-CHAN MINIPET!

She runs around shouting things like "Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto!"

We really do need a minipet to quote 80s music!
That would rock.
I usually start singing 80s songs in outposts just to see if anyone close to my age is around to chat with. lol
